WELCOME TO EFS CLASS BLOG

Welcome to EFS reading class where you can improve and advance your reading and writing skills. Hope you will enjoy blogging as well which can give you an opportunity to practise in your own time and at your own pace beyond the classroom. You will be able to access lots of resources provided for you by your teacher. You can also interact with your teacher and your classmates online and be able to view their work and give feedback. TASK 1 - Using a language software program

1. Go to Issues in English 2           

2. Explore the program
  • levels 
  • topics
  • activities
3. Choose the right level for you and one of the topics

4. Do the activities provided

5. Describe the program and reflect on it (your opinion)
    in a blog post in your blog

Use "Issues in English" level 3 on the TAFE computer
Choose any topic you like 
Do all listening, vocabulary and grammar activities
Do a print screen of one of them and save it 
Comment on the language program in a blog post
Insert the saved print screen in the same post

TASK 2 - Use a website

Open the website (Breaking News English) in the class blog  
Listen and read the news article (level 6)
Do various activities
Write a paragraph about
  • what exercises you did
  • what you liked about the website
  • what you did not like about the website
  • what part of the website you would you like to use another time
  • how you would rate the program out of 10 (10 being the best)
TASK 3 - Grammar Practice

1. Open the English Grammar in the class blog 

  • Practise one grammar aspect 
  • Record the aspect and comment how useful it was

2. Search on Internet for another English grammar website

  • save it on your smart phone

TASK 4 - Internet safety

Click on Internet Safety 
Listen and read the text
Answer the following questions:


  • Do many people agree to terms and conditions without reading them?
  • What happens when you click Facebook button?
  • Why are kids under 13 banned from most social media sites?
  • What is the reason for that restriction?
  • How some kids under 13 still use the sites?
  • What is the best way to protect children?
  • Give examples for this

TASK 5 - Cyber bullying

Click on Cyber bullying
Listen and read the text
Answer the following questions:


  • How often have kids experienced some sort of bullying on Internet?
  • What bullying is higher - the cyber bullying or school bullying?
  • What does cyber bullying include?
  • How do the bullied kids feel?
  • How many kids have reported cyber bullying to adults?
  • What help has been provided for cyber bullying?
  • How do kids deal with the negative emotions as a result of cyber bullying?

  • download some Apps on your phone and do some grammar exercises with the Apps
  • evaluate some of the technology you have used
  • use a website to do some grammar exercises

READING A BIOGRAPHY
Sometimes, a biography describes a person's life from birth to death. At other times, the writer concentrates on a particular period in a person's life. We will be reading biographies of famous Australians and other people. We will be practising completing a time line, making notes of key points as events, turning points and achievements.
